Associate Professor, School of International Studies

Zhu Xiaoyu, Associate Professor of School of International Studies, his personal interest and strength lie in the training of people’s language skills through vocal practice, such as interpretation and debating. I am also interested in text-book compiling and database construction to facilitate second language teaching and learning.

Advised teams for three National MUN meetings, winning seven awards; organized a school MUN meeting in 2005, a university MUN meeting in 2006 and a regional MUN meeting in 2007

Advised the university debating team for the 12th to 14th FLTRP CUP National English Debating Competition, winning two second prizes and a third prize

• Advisor and Editor of Kingfisher Apr 2006- Jul 2007

One of the initiators of Kingfisher, the English Prose Magazine for undergraduate students in the School of International Studies

Interpreter for the Local University Presidents Delegation to Oxford, UK, interpreting for all lectures and visits taking place, mainly concerning Higher Education Policy and Organization

• Headquarters of the European Commission in Brussels Oct. 2003-Apr 2004

Interpreter Trainee of DG Translation, the Directorate General for Interpretation and Conference Service, European Commission. The progromme also included study visits to the University of Westminster, UK and Dublin City University, Ireland
